Wow it's been awhile!!

Wow it sure has been a while since my last post. Being the mother of a two year old sure does take up most of your time. I always thought that I would never have a child that would be part of the terrible two's but unfortunately they have hit the Westover house, but I still love the kid very much. Wow a lot has happened in the last three months. In December my grandfather had a massive heart attack and was put on life support, it was so hard to see him in that condition. You always think your grandparents are going to live forever. By some great miracle my grandfather did survive. Stubborn old man just does not give up. In February my sweet little Kaylee turned two. I can't believe it has been two years. Time goes by so fast!! I started my second semester at Utah State, and it is going very well. I know that this is a touchy subject for some but I am so excited that Obama overturned Stem Cell Research Law this week. This something that I have been waiting for a very long time. Let start off by explaining I am not against being pro life. I have a daughter that I adore. but until you have been directly affected by someone who has a terminal disease than you probably won't understand how someone could be for this, plus there are other types of Stem Cell Research besides Embryonic. I hope that this will be a huge step in curing several diseases. Finally a president who cares about people. Now I would like to express my opinion on something else. I accidentally stumbled upon a blog that was talking about smoking. This person was teaching their kids that people who smoke are stupid, and that they don't care about there loved ones, and that they have low moral character because they give into peer pressure, and they just can't kick the addiction even though there is a lot of help out there. I am an ex-smoker. First of all I did not start smoking because of peer pressure, in fact I was alone when I bought my first pack. Second I do agree that smoking is a stupid habit, but to call actually call a person stupid is a little harsh.Third I do care deeply about my family, and about my health. Everyone has there own struggles that they have to deal with in there lives. Just because somebody smokes does not mean that they are a stupid and a uncaring person. Also until you have dealt with addiction you will never understand how hard it is to quit, even though there might be a lot of help out there. Addiction is not something you can give up over night, no matter how much you love your family. I think that it is great to teach kids that smoking is not a good habit, and to make them aware of the risks, but maybe you can teach them not to judge others so harshly until you have walked in that persons shoes. Just because someone does not have the same morals as you does not make them a stupid person, after all Obama is a smoker, I think that he is a very smart man.
